A Few Words
from John Harding, Managing Director

“When Lynda and I started the business back in 2004 from our tiny 8x6m office, I don’t think either of us envisaged we would grow to the extent we have.  Our philosophy in those days was to provide quality products and a high level of service and support to our Customers and if that was achieved we thought the Company would be a success.”

“We’ve been very fortunate as we have an exceptionally loyal customer base and a dedicated, hard working team around us, without which we wouldn’t be where we are today.  We have managed to grow the business every year, even through the recession.  We would sincerely like to thank all our customers for their continued support.  The best is yet to come ...”

“Questions & Answers”
with Lynda Harding, Finance Director of J&L

Can you give 3 words to describe the last 10 years for J&L?
Exciting, Challenging, Fun

What do you believe J&L’s greatest achievement is?
I think our greatest achievement has been in the recruitment of our fabulous team here at J&L.  Some individuals after joining us have been sponsored to develop further skills and achieved a Marketing Degree and gaining Professional Management Accountancy status.  Our team is continually expanding and we look forward to welcoming new team members in 2015.

What is the most exciting project J&L has been involved with in the last 10 years?
I could list many of the exciting projects we have been involved with however we value ALL of the orders we receive from each of our Customers, from the one off pushbutton orders to the multi car groups and MRL installations.  It wouldn’t seem right to highlight individual jobs as it is the continued partnerships with our customers which are most significant to us.

Apart from recruitment, over the last 10 years has there been a particular addition to J&L that has made a significant difference to the company's service?
Moving to our current premises allowed us to have larger warehousing with fork lift truck and our own dedicated vehicles. The extra space has allowed us to carry more stock, in particular more machines and offer a next day delivery service with our vehicles.
We mustn’t forget the addition of the Company dog 4 years ago – cocker spaniel Purdey who throws herself in front of the printer/photocopier in the hope of attention every time one of us moves – when she’s not asleep under one of our desks!
Definitely Liftex 2013 – amazing Stand and the opportunity for more of the J&L team to meet our customers.

Are there any significant events from the 10 years that stand out to you?
Moving to St Asaph Business Park in 2007 to offices which we thought were huge and we would never outgrow only to find 2 years later we had to move again to larger premises with a huge warehouse in 2009.  Once again we thought we would have plenty of room for growth. With the addition of Jessica our Graduate Sales Executive and Spare Parts Coordinator earlier this year all desks are now occupied!  Watch this space for further expansion news later this year...

If you had the chance to change anything, what would it be and why?
Our email address – it’s far too long!

Where do you see J&L in the next 10 years?
I think in 10 years time the Company will still be true to its core values and still be providing quality products, partnering our customers and providing excellent customer service.  New and exciting products will have been introduced and developed and the Technical and Sales team at J&L will have expanded further.
