Oil Buffers

Oil buffers are required on lifts with speeds of 1.0 m/s upwards.

Our range covers loads of up to 4130 kg and lift speeds of up to 6.0 m/s.

Oil buffers consist of a hollow cylinder, a piston filled with oil and a ram moving up and down in the cylinder. A spring keeps the ram steady in the fully extended position whilst the lift is in normal operation.

If the car or counterweight enters the runby position at terminal floors, the piston is pressed and the oil in the cylinder is passed through a series of holes in the cylinder wall into the piston causing the piston to dissipate the energy.
