J&Ls Jessica joins Lift Industry Mental Health Charter Committee!
Mental health is an essential aspect of overall well-being, yet despite spending more time in the workplace than at home, it is often overlooked by employers. When Jessica was offered the opportunity to join the Mental Health Committee, she “knew it was a chance to contribute meaningfully to a cause that is important within our industry”.
Mental health affects everyone, yet stigma and misinformation often prevent open discussions and access to proper care. The Charter aims to raise awareness, reduce stigma and promote positive mental health for all sectors within the industry, with the mission of providing support internationally as momentum increases. Since 2022, the Charter has gained over 100 supporters and trained over 70 mental health first aiders – what an achievement!
The Role of the Mental Health Committee
The Committee works tirelessly to promote awareness, provide resources, and organise initiatives that support individuals in need. Some of our key activities include:
· Free mental health first aid courses provided throughout the industry.
· Providing a support network, information, tools and signposting for anyone in need.
· Industry events to raise sponsorship allowing our work to continue and grow.
· Quarterly coffee mornings open to anyone in the industry and/or local to the location of our committee meetings.
· Assist supporters on their commitments i.e. carrying out mental health risk assessments, supporting employee wellbeing etc.
Mental health is complex, and every individual’s journey is unique. Small actions like a supportive conversation, cup of tea, or sharing helpful resources, can have a profound impact. If you’re passionate about mental health, I encourage you to get involved and support our journey toward a healthier and more compassionate industry.
